in-person and online therapy in Minnesota
I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) that has been practicing for over 10 years. I love my job! During one of the many trainings I have done over the years, I learned the analogy of how different therapy approaches are like tending to weeds in a garden.
Therapy is like tending to a garden full of weeds. If you only pull the leaves of a weed, the roots remain buried deep in the soil, and before long, the weed grows back. In therapy, stabilization skills are like pulling the leaves—they provide temporary relief by addressing the immediate symptoms, helping you feel more grounded in the moment. However, to truly remove the weed for good, we must dig deeper and heal the origins of the wounding, pulling out the entire root system. By addressing the core issues at their foundation, we can prevent the weed from returning, allowing for lasting healing and growth.
When we take the time to heal the roots, just like in a garden, the result is that the entire space can flourish. The weeds no longer take over, and the garden becomes a place of balance, beauty, and vitality. The same goes for you. As you heal and remove what’s been holding you back at the core, you create the space for growth, peace, and your true potential to thrive.
My approach blends the power of connection, humor, and evidence-based treatments to help you heal from within and improve your quality of life and relationships. I use a variety of trauma- and relationally-informed methods, including Healing Our Core Issues (HOCI), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and a variety of mind-body approaches.
A little about me- I bring my full, human self to our work together—no pretense, no judgment. I’m direct when it’s helpful, I swear when the moment calls for it, and I use humor to break through the heaviness when needed. I am a wife, mother and love anything involving the great outdoors. Life can be a tangled mess, lets untangle it together. If you’re ready to dive in and do the work, I have immediate openings and offer a free 15-minute consultation to help you take the first step.
My Certified Therapy Dog. He’s a 100lb Bernedoodle and, at 4 years old, I like to call him the "big friendly giant." Sarge brings an incredible sense of connection, comfort, and grounding to our space. His calm presence helps clients feel safe and at ease, offering opportunities for mindfulness and even an occasional laugh. His gentle nature and playful spirit remind us all of the healing power of companionship and a little bit of joy.
